Roberts Ready For 07 Season

Second baseman Brian Roberts, who spent last spring racing against the clock to recover from a surgically repaired left elbow in time for Opening Day, feels "like a whole different person, compared to last year."

Working toward a return to his All-Star form of 2005, Roberts began a weight-lifting program over the offseason. "There's no way to ever get to 100 percent when you start at 50," said the 29-year-old, referring to last spring's health woes. "It's impossible." Considering his strong 2006 season (.286 AVG, 10 homers, 36 steals), a recharged Roberts makes for one of the best second-base options once Chase Utley is off the board.
