Crosby Looking To Stay Healthy
Bobby Crosby took his first swings since being sidelined for the remainder of the 2006 season last August, when A's doctors diagnosed the shortstop with a fractured vertebra in his lower back.
One theory that's been frequently floated about Crosby's troubling injury history -- he's missed 132 games over the past two seasons -- is that he swings too hard. Manager Bob Geren said he'd want Crosby, 27, to dial back his hack only if it were in the name of improved performance. Since staying healthy is a key component to not only Crosby's success but also the A's 2007 playoff hopes, expect the team to bring him along slowly.
