Crosby: Back appears fine

Facing big-league pitchers for the first time since Aug. 21, Bobby Crosby (back) batted second in the A's lineup Wednesday and went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Crosby lost many fantasy admirers during his 2006 disappointment (.228/.298/.338). By the same token, his fall-off makes him an appealing purchase on draft day, too. Only 26, Crosby carries little risk as a third-tier shortstop, was a stud throughout his college and Minor League career, and has the utmost support from the Oakland organization. When the Orlando Cabreras and Edgar Renterias of the world are off the board, pull Crosby's card.
