Trachsel pitches six scoreless innings

Delivering his finest start since signing on with the Orioles in mid-February, Steve Trachsel yielded just two hits over six scoreless innings Thursday. The outing gave the 36-year-old right-hander his first win of Spring Training. True, Trachsel appears to have secured a spot in Baltimore's rotation. But AL-only managers under the belief that his 15 wins will be repeated in the mighty American League East this season would be wise to consider the following: Among starters who pitched at least 160 innings last year, Trachsel received a whopping 6.61 runs per nine innings from a powerful Mets lineup -- fourth in the Majors. To further emphasize the point, his 4.97 ERA ranked worst among all 15-game winners. Stay away.
