Bedard Looks Sharp
Starter Erik Bedard was nearly perfect in his spring debut, retiring all six batters he faced while throwing 16 of 20 pitches for strikes. Sure, it's a small sample size. Nevertheless, the outing seems to support the notion that Bedard's strong second half last year (3.10 ERA, 83 strikeouts in 87 innings) will carry over into the 2007 season.
