Mariners closer J.J. Putz has tightness in his right elbow and is unlikely make Friday's scheduled game appearance. Hopefully this is nothing serious, as Putz emerged as a top closing option with 36 saves, a 2.30 ERA and 104 strikeouts in 78 1/3 innings last season.
