Cliff Floyd: Limited Role In Cubs Outfield

Cubs outfielder Cliff Floyd is not expected to play in the first week of Spring Training games as a precautionary measure to give his left foot more time to heal. Floyd, who underwent surgery to treat a bone spur last October, claims he is feeling well enough to play, but the Cubs aren’t going to take any chances with the injury-prone veteran. With Matt Murton, Alfonso Soriano and Jacque Jones slotted to start in the outfield this year, Floyd will get plenty of chances to rest his foot and deliver limited value to owners.
