Francis Suspended For Five Games

Jeff Francis has been suspended for five regular season games after throwing behind San Diego’s Kevin Kouzmanoff on March 13. You can go ahead and scratch one start off Francis’ scheduled slate, but it shouldn’t make much of a difference in his overall numbers. Owners should be more concerned with the left-hander’s uneven performance this spring; over 10 2/3 innings, Francis has allowed eight earned runs.
