Granderson: Trying To Cut Down On K's
Curtis Granderson fell a triple shy of the cycle in a 4-for-4 performance Wednesday. Granderson had been working on shortening his swing after striking out an AL-leading 174 times in 2006, but that approach didn’t yield many hard-hit balls until Wedesday’s game against the Mets. The 26-year-old will have his work cut out for him as he learns to walk that fine line between being aggressive and taking what the pitcher gives him, but a sound judgment of the strike zone (66 walks in ’06) will help his cause. Now, if only he could also work on putting his speed to better use on the basepaths.
