Webb Labors In Spring Outing
Reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Brandon Webb labored over his three innings of work in Tuesday’s loss to the Padres, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks. Webb looked more like the pitcher who led the Majors with 119 walks in 2004 than the one who permitted just 1.9 BB/9 IP last year, but owners shouldn’t worry too much about his control problems resurfacing. "Mechanically, I think I was rushing myself a little bit," Webb said. "Walking three guys, I wasn't real happy about, but it's Spring Training. We're just trying to get our mechanics and legs, and just trying to go out there and throw strikes."
