Billingsley Battling For Fifth Spot In Dodgers Rotation
Dodgers SP Chad Billingsley had another impressive outing Friday against the Twins. He worked 2 1/3 innings, allowing just one hit and one walk. He did not allow a run to cross the plate. He has now made three relief appearances that have spanned 6 1/3 innings. He has allowed five hits and two runs -- both unearned. He also has five strikeouts.
Billingsley has yet to make a start this spring, but is in the running for the fifth spot in the team's rotation. Right now, he and Brett Tomko seem to be the frontrunner's for the job. It is just up to the team in which direction they choose to go with Tomko -- starter or bullpen. But if Billingsley keeps on pitching well, the team will likely put him in the veteran-laden rotation. Billingsley is a big-time sophomore who could be a sleeper if people overlook him in your league on Draft Day. He remains a great long-term keeper.
