Timlin: Candidate To Be Red Sox Closer

When Joel Pineiro signed a $4-million contract with incentives for games finished, it was assumed he would get first crack at closing games for the Boston Red Sox in 2007.

But lately signs have pointed to veteran Mike Timlin being handed ninth-inning duties. Pineiro has struggled in spring training and Timlin recorded nine saves last year when Jonathan Papelbon was injured.
