Enrique Gonzalez Sharp In Debut
Enrique Gonzalez was sharp in his Cactus League debut on Monday against the Giants, tossing three shutout innings of one-hit ball for the win. Gonzalez, who is battling for one of the final two spots in the rotation, delivered his second strong outing of the spring. "He's getting the ball inside on both the right- and left-handed hitters, and he's on the attack, and I think that's something he got away from the second part of our season last year," Diamondbacks pitching coach Bryan Price said. "It's something that he has to have in order to compete and win a job here." Going "on the attack" was a successful strategy in the Minors for the 24-year-old right-hander, who combined for a 3.25 ERA and a 181/66 K/BB ratio in 221 2/3 innings at Double-A and Triple-A from 2005-06.
